This human pathology seems to be growing in importance in the world. Perhaps it is one of the impacts of growing pressure towards more intense tribalism in the global village, predicted by Marshall McLuhan.

From tinkering to “nevers” to chaos...

The title of this reflection is, in part, inspired by what Wikipedia refers to as "a feat of smooth and ruthless efficiency", the historic "double play" action of infield basemen of the 1906-1910 Chicago Cubs that also inspired a short poem, entitled "Baseball's Sad Lexicon," also known as "Tinker to Evers to Chance", by Franklin P. Adams. (See Baseball's Sad Lexicon.)

Population control hysteria, the progressive movement and the world's elites

Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character in Charles Dickens' A Chistmas Carol. One of Scrooge's most remembered comments is in response to a solicitation from unnamed gentlemen on behalf of the poor. “If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population." Scrooge's blunt response was typical of many business class people of his day, It was not generally so publically stated by members of the Progressive Movement, but their general sympathy for the arguments of the Eugenics Movement and the creed of the Malthusians is well known to historians.

It's not easy to figure out what Google considers news, these days. When I heard (on Fox "News Watch") about the appointment of liberal blogger Jesse Lee to be the White House "director of progressive media and online response" I rushed to look for an official announcement on the Internet. Naturally, I turned to Google, plugging in 'jesse lee media online "director of progressive media"' under their News category. I could not find such an announcement in an accredited news report. The closed thing I came up with was a posting in the Washington Post by blogger Ed O'Keefe, "Press shop comings and goings," which mentions Jesse Lee's appointment in paragraph three.

Intactivists?

It seems to be more effort than its worth to find a definition of intactivism on the Internet, but a search for the word on Wikipedia yields circumcision controversies. I can only guess that the word refers to a movement to preserve male foreskin in its original, God-given location. Obviously, this has raised the hackles of many who are religiously descended from the faith of Abraham, who, according to the Book of Genesis, originated the practice in obedience to God.

At the start of the 20th century, paleontologists anxious to prove the theory of Charles Darwin regarding the origins of Homo sapiens, fell prey to an international hoax known as Piltdown Man. Today, cultural anthropologists anxious to prove the theory of Samuel P. Huntington regarding the eventual fate of Homo sapiens, are falling prey to an internationalist hoax known as Davos Man.
