Pope St. Pius X recognized that the growing craze he called Modernism was a significant threat to civilization. People use the term Post-modernism to describe what's happening, today. They also call it the New Age, the New World Order, and even The Age of Aquarius. In short, it's a kind of paganized and radically nominalized version of Modernism. Historically speaking, it is a natural "progression" or, if you will, "evolution" from Modernism, even though the founders of Modernism would most likely be horrified by it.

But is it progress? Perhaps, but not in the sense of it being an improvement. Is it evolution? Most definitely, but not to a higher form, merely a more specialized form. We are all entering an evolutionary cul-de-sac, wherein the least disturbance of our social environment has the potential for wiping us all out.
