If it appears that some content is dated, that's because it is. I have had to rebuild this site, due to unrecoverable errors while updating. Given issues with time background being an important factor, I have decided to move them to a menu at the end of the opening page. I have edited some to reflect the history and to update links.
Although my error messages have been eliminated, I still can't get footnotes to work with the new software. That's a minor irritation compared to what else is happening in the world.
In chapter 2 of the Book of Genesis, God warns Adam and Eve: "You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die."
This claim is, of course, problematic on at least two points: (1) the first clause is contradicted by the second, and (2) Adam and Eve do become subject to the law of death, but they do not die on the day they eat of that fruit. They might have, instead, been stated thus:

EWTN's principle celebrant, with Fr. Greg Konnerman and I as concelebrants, finally enter into the sanctuary after almost 14 minutes of preliminaries. I'm 75, a tad overweight and clumsy as you can see from my effort to genuflect. The other awkward part is that most of the Mass prayers are recited or sung in Latin, which was de rigueur prior to Vatican II.

I'm a retired priest. My current duties include daily Mass, administering the sacraments and pastoral care. These duties remain standard in retirement until health reasons abridge or preclude. A priest who retains his calling only retires completely when he is no longer physically and mentally able to hear confessions.
