Revelation via natural metaphor...

You know how it is when you get a really great idea? Chances are, someone else was there first. Unfortunately, some really great ideas are not well known, except to a very few people. Finding out whether someone else had your idea before can sometimes be very difficult to do. (I had that experience years ago when I got an idea in the mathematics of the abstract, time-dependent Cauchy problem.

On My Oldest Uncle, Benjamin R. Morin

Uncle Ben was born as the first son of Benjamin Rodolph Morin and Josephine Morin on August 15, 1920. He wrote about himself in great detail. He was also written about in a blog by someone named Rob. Finally, his obituary (written by Maureen O'Donnell on June 24, 2016) was covered in some detail in the Chicago Sun-Times.

On subsidiarity, a controversial technical term

The term "subsidiarity" is relatively recent in human history. It's definition and application to governmental structures and operations are highly controversial. I gave a talk on this matter during the 2019 LifeTech Conference.

Who I am...

I'm a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. My current duties include daily Mass, administering the sacraments and pastoral care. These duties remain standard in retirement until health reasons abridge or preclude them. A priest who retains his calling only retires completely when he is no longer physically and mentally able to hear confessions. I'm currently serving at St. Teresa in Springfield, Ohio. For further information, check out my background.

(Note: There are four famous Saint Teresa's. This one is the French St. Thérèse of Lisieux (whose original name was Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin).  The other three well known ones - in chronological order - are Teresa of Ávila, Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (her religious order name) whose original name was Edith Stein, and, last but not least, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, whose original name was Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu)
