Emotional/spiritual reaction to Obergefell v. Hodges

Permit me to offer a word of advice to people of faith. If you find yourself overwhelmed with anger or grief, take it to God in prayer. While you're praying to God for clarity, enlightenment, inner peace, etc., you should also pray for all of the principals involved in these new social and legal "innovations" that they will not be lost, but that God will protect them from the evil one. God loves all of us and wants us to be together with him in the end. It will help us to ally ourselves with that sentiment.

History? What's that?

Some people have concluded that recent efforts to erase the history of the country are unreasoning acts of hysteria. Personally, I think it's more likely the case that folks have gotten lazy and are tired of having to learn from history, so they've decided to erase its artifacts from the public square. The most convenient excuse for doing so is the claim that someone or some thing was a sign of or a support for racism.

The language boa constrictor

You think, I dare say, that our chief job is inventing new words. But not a bit of it! We’re destroying words — scores of them, hundreds of them, every day. We’re cutting the language down to the bone. ... Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it.
