Killer Maps

Killer Maps

Submitted by root on
This is a rhyming pun on "Killer Apps," a term used to describe a software application that becomes so popular and indispensable (like the first on-line spreadsheet) that it draws people to the platform (or operating system) on which it is implemented. The first was VisiCalc. Now, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are competing to provide the first indispensable on-line mapping program. Google has a good head start with Google Earth. Now Technology Review looks at the competition and the potential of this interesting application: "Killer Maps."
